ENGAGING THE TENN LITTLE BIRDS OUTDOOR SPACE

In collaborative efforts with the Civic Design Center in Nashville Tennessee, the team was asked to activate a space associated with Tenn Little Birds in Nashville,TN.

Tenn Little Birds is a local business that offers the early childhood music program, which influenced the solutions proposed and the final outcome.

Outdoor area in its current state

SKETCHES

Starting with rough Ideation based off of insights from our site visits, we created several ideas for solutions, all of them surrounding the need for seating within the space.

The final solution was to follow the musical motif existing within the daycare and create benches that reflected the design of piano keys.

3D MODELED RENDERS

From our sketches, we were able to create 3d models of both the end product and the frame schematics within blender to better illustrate and visualize what we needed to do to make the idea successful.

CONSTRUCTION

From our sketches and the 3d renders we had created, we were able to construct the Benches, utilizing plywood and 2x4s, with black and white paint being applied to the outside of the benches. For the internal bins, we were able to use hinges and plastic buckets to create a sustainable place to store or utilize interactive objects.

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

After constructing the benches, we were able to place the benches within the Tenn Little Birds space for the patrons of the daycare to utilize however they seem fit.
