NYC PArks site Redesign

FALL 2025

MADE WITHOUT ASSOCIATION WITH THE PARKS DEPARTMENT

RESPONSIVE WEBSITE DESIGN

FIGMA PROTOTYPING
USER CENTERED DESIGN

(Screen recording of the current mobile site)

In response to personal dissatisfaction with the mobile interface of the New York Parks Department site, I took it upon myself to find a way to incorporate the breadth of info needed for people visiting or living in NY to explore the parks in a more informed way. The emphasis was to create a design that took the good parts of the current site and make it responsive and optimized for mobile use.

PROCESS OVERVIEW

01

Assessment

Taking what was already present in the current standards set by the site, the information available is assessed and organized to be consolidated.

02

Solution Refinement

Upon choosing the most promising solution and implementation of layout, the design is brought to paper to build layouts more fully.

03

Development

As the solution is coming to a point of refinement on paper, the design is then brought into software to implement and create a prototype.

01

Research/ideation

When approaching how to create a more optimized site layout, I first took an inventory of the essential sites and sections that the current site had and developed an information architecture to reorganize the webpages into more approachable sections.

Sketches

From the pages that the website currently has, I developed several sketches of the possible page layouts, exploring button placement and possible type organization.

Prototype

From the sketches I developed a figma prototype that takes the design elements and type treatments shown in the site and reformatting them for a mobile screen.
